The stone gate was built in the style of the Dutch Renaissance (1574-1577) on the foundations of the former Gothic southern main gate.

The field side is simple, while the splendid city side is decorated with seals, the city's coat of arms and the inscription "Sit intra te concordia et publica felicitas" (Within your walls reign harmony and general welfare).
