Cafés, Exhibitions and Galleries, National Park and Nature Conservation Centres, family-friendly

The exhibition about the nature park “Mecklenburgische Schweiz und Kummerower See“ in Basedow can be found in the cafe “Alter Schafstall“, on the right side of the guest room. It displays land and people of the region.

One of the main topics is the formation of the landscape during the last Ice Age in combination with the origin of the erratic blocks. Persons from the region of the nature park are introduced in another part of the exhibition. Visitors can spin a disc in a large exhibition cabinet in order to find out about the landscape’s development from the Stone Age until now.

The exhibition is adjusted to adults, families and children. This way, children can investigate what beavers and otters eat. You can listen to the sounds of different animals and guess the kind of animal behind it or open a cover for more pictures. There is a stork nest on the building next door.

The admission is free, even for visitors that do not want to buy anything in the café.
