Blossom splendor at the Tiefwarensee
This small botanical garden is located on a headland at the Tiefwarensee. It is characterized by a special scenic location with charming views of the old town of Waren. It covers an area of about 16,000 square meters.
In the center is a formally designed garden section, in which an extensive collection of potted plants such as palms, oranges, laurel and other Mediterranean plants are arranged amidst splendid summer flowers during the summer months. Another garden room features primarily flowering perennials in a naturalistic design.
Adjacent to this is a heather garden depicting an idealized heath landscape. In the southern part of the headland, the view opens onto a large meadow, framed by the water of the Tiefwarensee, with partly rare solitary trees and flowering shrubs.
A special highlight here is a Zen garden designed by the renowned Japanese landscape architect, Kanji Nomura. Four greenhouses house one of the largest collections of cacti and succulents in northern Germany, as well as numerous orchids, bromeliads and other tropical plants.
