The Wismar University of Applied Sciences presents a show garden for renewable raw materials with many interesting different plant species on the grounds of the modern laboratory complex Malchow/ Insel Poel, in the immediate vicinity of the traditional seed breeding farm "NPZ Lembke Malchow".
In the show garden, students of the Process and Environmental Engineering course, who specialize in the "Biotechnology and Process Engineering of Biogenic Raw Materials" profile, learn about nature's rich supply of energy, oil, starch, sugar, fiber and dye plants. In laboratory and pilot plant experiments, effective processes for the utilization of biogenic raw materials are developed with the material.
More than 500 different energy- and raw material-producing plant species, medicinal and aromatic herbs, deciduous and coniferous shrubs, as well as summer flowers and perennials await the visitor, freely accessible at any time of day. All nature enthusiasts who want to enjoy the magnificent flora of the teaching and research site are welcome at any time.
