Since 1993 there is the Prerow pier with a length of 395 m and a width of 3.50 m - the longest in the Fischland-Darß-Zingst region.
At Prerow's coast, there used to be only jetties for smaller boats. These had a manageably short lifespan due to wind, weather and winter ice conditions. Later, a wooden bridge already leading approx. 200 m into the sea followed, which was located west of today's pier together with the then customary "bathing establishment".
Since 1993, there is the almost twice as long, modern successor of the historical pier. Reaching almost 400 meters into the sea, the pier offers a unique view of the Darss east beach.
In August 2022, the construction project of a new island harbor, as a replacement harbor for the emergency port at Darßer Ort and the construction of a new pier off the coast of Prerow was received. For this purpose, the old, existing pier will be gradually dismantled, starting on the seaward side. The construction project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023.
