In Mecklenburg ParkLand: "When our Lord created the world, he started at Meckelnborg, ..."
Thus begins Fritz Reuter's first chapter of "De Urgeschicht," a not entirely serious homage to his beautiful homeland. Picturesque coastal landscapes alternate here with dense forests and lakes nestled in gentle hills. Schwiessel Castle, built in 1864 by the Bassewitz family in the Tudor style, also stands in this landscape.
The ruins, which had fallen to the ground, were acquired in 2007 and rebuilt in their former glory. Since then, this cultural-historical building is not only available to the public for the preservation of architectural heritage of an important epoch, but also for its musical achievements.
Thus, as part of the 2016 Festival Summer, the completed castle was ceremoniously inaugurated by the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in a dignified atmosphere as a resurrected haven of culture. However, this was only the beginning, according to the builder, because the cooperation with the classical series is secured for years.
