The village, which is over 750 years old, was first mentioned under the name Zitzelow. However, the area in and around Zislow was also settled 3000 years ago. This is proven by the burial mounds to be seen here and also one of the most beautiful bowl stones (sacrificial stones) in the country. From Zislow, you can walk to the nearby Stemmnitz viewing tower. This is approx. 5 m high and lies around 100 m above sea level. You can reach it via a signposted nature trail and have a wonderful view of the church in the town of Plau and the lake. The observation tower is the highest point in the area - if not the whole tour.
