From Schwabach to Schwerin, from Cologne to Berlin, roof tiles, slate, copper, zinc and lead tiles from 100 historic buildings from all over Europe,
The permanent exhibition "Roof tiles" is located in the botanical garden "Mecklenburg Switzerland". The exhibition features 100 roof tiles from historical buildings from all over Europe. All types of roof tiles are presented: Slate, copper, zinc and lead tiles from churches and secular buildings. Highlights include wooden shingles from the Goslar stave church and a gilded roof tile as used on the Schwabach town hall. Modern roof tiles are also on display. Roof tiles in a different use complete the exhibition. These are roof tiles in the form of oil paintings and relief tiles with images of historical personalities. The reliefs were handmade in the 1970s by the Lauterbach roof tile factory in Vogelsberg as wall decorations.
