Horse riding, holidays in the countryside

The Hubertus Riding Club provides a home for horses in Raben Steinfeld, on the outskirts of the city of Schwerin.

For 40 years, equestrian sports have been part of the image of the community of Raben Steinfeld. The equestrian section of the sports community of Raben Steinfeld, which existed in GDR times, became the present riding club "Hubertus" e.V. in the course of the "Wende" in 1990. The stables of our riding club, which housed 16 horses at that time, were located in Forststraße on the grounds of today's residential park "Gutshof" until the mid-1990s. At that time, the riding club had about 50 members, who did their regular training on the property of the current "Residence Park" as well as the associated parking lots. There was a riding arena and a small paddock bordering the main road.

In 1996, the municipality of Raben Steinfeld finally made the area still used today available to the riding club shortly behind the village exit in the direction of Görslow. Thus, the planned construction measures in the village interior could be implemented and more favorable conditions for equestrian sports could be created. The existing cowshed was to a large extent rebuilt by our club members into a modern horse stable. The additionally built indoor riding arena enabled from now on weather-independent riding and the spacious outdoor riding arenas were, unlike before, in a quiet location away from the main road.

Today, our riding club has 70 members, about half of whom are children and teenagers. The spacious stables currently house 6 club horses and 29 boarding horses. The indoor riding arena and two outdoor arenas are still available for daily training. The landscape around Lake Pinnow invites to relaxing rides, but also to carriage and charabanc rides. The highlights of our club life are the spring tournaments and our traditional Hubertus hunt in autumn.

As manifold as the equestrian sport is, as manifold are the works around the horses and the stables, which are mainly done by our stable masters and trainers as well as our hard-working members. But also the municipality of Raben Steinfeld and its voluntary fire department support us energetically for example with our riding hunts or the care of our club facilities.
