The approx. 40 m² room in the oldest residential building of the Güstrow housing association bears its name due to a painted wooden beam ceiling, which was found during modernization work in 2004.
The special value of the painted wooden beam ceiling for North German Renaissance art is based on the preserved extent of 19 portrait medallions in contemporary dress and striking detail. It is hard to find anything comparable in the contemporaneous secular architecture of northern Germany.
The opening of the Renaissance Room at Mühlenstraße 17 has enriched cultural life in Güstrow since 2006. Five to six times a year, concerts, readings or comedy performances take place here. The room has space for 40 people - and that's exactly what makes the atmosphere so special. Artists and guests are very close to each other here.
Tours are possible to a limited extent during the opening hours of the Güstrow consumer center.
