Harbours and marinas

Peace, nature experience and active joie de vivre in the natural harbor of Puddemin.

Renowned water sports and fishing associations in the region have concluded a voluntary agreement with WWF and BUND to bring water sports and nature into harmony. The "Glewitzer- and Puddeminer Wiek" are sensitive natural habitats that require special protection. The harbor offers about 30 guest berths with stern pilings at the NW quay at a water depth of about 2.5 m. Registration in the small harbor building SW of the berths or in the restaurant "Luv". Fishing and smaller sport boats are moored at the jetty - entering at Stb.

Climate forest Sehlen

The third climate forest on Rügen was officially opened with a planting campaign on October 20, 2018. Over a total area of around one hectare, lime, elm and woodland edge trees were gradually planted over the following three years.

Harbour of Lauterbach

Brick trench bridge - Rügen dam

The Rügen causeway is the first fixed trafficable crossing of the Strelasund, over which both the old B 96, the Stralsund-Sassnitz railroad line and a footpath and cycle path lead. It was completed in 1937.

***The NAUTINEUM on the Stralsund Dänholm will be closed for visitors in 2022. The NAUTINEUM has been located on the island of "Kleiner Dänholm" between Stralsund and Rügen since 1999. Original large exhibits, including a historic fishing shed and the walk-in underwater laboratory HELGOLAND, provide an insight into marine research, fisheries, hydrology and sea waterways.

Tremt surf spot

On east wind days Tremt is a popular shallow water spot on the Greifswalder Bodden. The entry area is a bit narrow, but you can do it on the water and on land really wide. A fat nozzle provides extra power in kites and sails.

Dreschvitz climate forest, Island of Rügen

A tree planting campaign in autumn 2023 marked the start of the development of a new forest in Dreschvitz. This fifth climate forest on the island of Rügen will absorb around 755 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere over the next hundred years.

Circus Putbus

The name Putbus is probably of Slavic origin and translates as "behind the lilac bush". In 1810 this place was developed by Prince Malte to a residence town in classicistic style with theater, pedagogy and white houses around the circus.
