Experience the former country life on the 400-year-old Pingelhof - one of the oldest and most beautiful rural complexes in Mecklenburg, which today serves as an open-air museum on 10,000 m².
The Pingelhof was established 400 years ago by Jochim Pingel. Nine generations of farmers, maids and farmhands worked hard here every day and still led a meager life. Erna Pingel still lived on the farm until 1984. Five years later, after extensive restoration, the property became a museum.
The Pingelhof is one of the oldest and most beautiful rural estates in Mecklenburg. It is not only the thatched hall house and the other buildings that invite you to travel back in time, but also the old trees and the historical equipment. A look into the small parlors, into the kitchen with the open fireplace and into the immediately neighboring stables as well as into the church shows how little romantic life on the farm had been. A water mill, a sawmill, a historic blacksmith's shop and lots of plows, harrows, threshing machines and tractors bear witness to working life. There is even an agricultural plane. The farmers of the neighborhood constantly provide new exhibits. Here, visitors can also try their hand at historical schooling, visit the farm owl and try out a barefoot trail. Various events, exciting exhibitions and amusing theater performances are held here throughout the year.
