Beautiful park in the village of Juliusruh.
The park Juliusruh is a late baroque park from the time around 1800. The park was created by Julius von der Lancken, in the last third of the so-called "Swedish period", that is, the affiliation of Rügen to the Kingdom of Sweden, from 1795 on dune sand. A ring-shaped complex was created in the rococo style with a one-story country house, riding arena, bath house, orange house and two pavilions. The highlight is the swan house on an island in the southeast pond. The linden seedlings arrived in 1795 from Skåne in southern Sweden. After the sale of the estate in 1803 to Philip Karl Riekmann, the country house and associated farm buildings quickly fell into disrepair and the park became overgrown. In 1835, the city of Stralsund acquired the property. Since then, the park has been used as a spa park. The Juliusruh hunting lodge, built on the northern edge of the park in 1795, was burned down and destroyed in 1945. A granite stone is dedicated there to the initiator of this park. Only a part of the once magnificent park has been preserved as a spa park. The entrance to the park is free. It is open all year round. Guided tours are arranged by appointment.
