The Pfarrwitwenhaus Groß Zicker is a listed residential house in Groß Zicker. It was built in 1719/20 and is thus one of the oldest residential buildings on Rügen.
The parish widow's house is located in Groß Zicker on the Mönchgut peninsula. It was built in 1719/1720 and was inhabited until 1984. It is one of the oldest preserved houses on the Island of Rügen. It was built in hall construction and you can still admire the typical post and beam construction of the Low German hall house. Only local materials, such as wood, clay and cane, were used for the construction. The house was built for the parson's widows. The widow of the pastor was usually left penniless after his death. Thus, the parish widow's house provided the women with shelter and the basic necessities of life. Today, the parish widow's house serves as a museum and is also available for exhibitions and events.
