Palmer place is the southernmost point of the Island of Rügen and at the same time of the peninsula Zudar, which belongs to Rügen. The cape belongs to the territory of the municipality of Garz/Rügen.
Palmer Ort marks the transition from the Greifswald Bodden to the Strelasund. On the land side, a small coastal protection forest is located in front of Palmer Ort. A forest path, which is partly marked as a nature trail, leads through it to Palmer Ort. The nearest village is the small settlement of Grabow, about 1 km to the northeast. At Palmer Ort itself there is a narrow natural sandy beach, which is little frequented by visitors due to its remoteness. Anglers use the beach section for pike fishing. In winter, ice jams that can reach heights of several meters occur more frequently at Palmer Ort during ice conditions. In 1372 a ship with 90 pilgrims on board, who were on a pilgrimage to the church of St. Laurence in Zudar, sank in a storm off Palmer. The belief in an image of the Virgin Mary located there, which was said to have miraculous powers, disappeared after this disaster. During the Pomeranian campaign in the Great Northern War, the Palmer village became the scene of fighting.
