The lighthouse welcomes boaters as they enter the Müritz-Elde waterway from Lake Plaue. From its viewing platform at a height of 8 meters, it offers a fantastic panoramic view over Lake Plauer See. It is now considered the most popular photo motif among guests.
In 2012, a new highlight in Plau am See was completed and opened to the public - the new pier with the lighthouse. This has already become a real visitor magnet in the climatic health resort. Especially on weekends, many guests and locals take advantage of the nice weather to enjoy the view from the platform over Lake Plau and the surrounding area.
With a total height of 13.5 meters, the lighthouse now welcomes all guests coming from the water as they enter Plau am See. From land, visitors can climb the tower and get a fascinating panoramic view of Lake Plauer See, the Müritz-Elde waterway and Plau am See from the viewing platform located at a height of 8 meters. The tower is open daily from April to October. In the period from November to March the tower is always open on Fridays to Sundays and by appointment. Special opening hours for groups can be arranged in advance with the Tourist Info Plau am See. For safety reasons it is pointed out that the tower remains closed during storms, thunderstorms or ice and snow. Entering the tower and the pier is at your own risk. Parents are liable for their children.
On the area around the lighthouse there is a harbor, a snack bar and vacation apartments. The Metow connects Lake Plau with the old town of Plau am See and offers guests a maritime flair while strolling and lingering.
