Best opportunity to observe the bird species occurring in the nature reserve "Binsenbrink".
During walks across the Burgwallinsel you can discover rare plants such as the earth star, a mushroom that is actually not native to this regin, the black mullein or the rose mallow. However, Teterow Lake and its island are a pure paradise for ornithologists. One of the oldest nature reserves in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the "Binsenbrink" NSG, is located on the shores of the lake. The nature reserve, which is part of the landscape conservation area "Mecklenburg Switzerland", is also part of the EU bird sanctuary "Mecklenburg Switzerland, Recknitz and Trebel valleys". A total of 125 bird species have been observed so far, 64 of which are breeding birds, including bluethroat, reed warbler and warbler, crested and lesser spotted warbler, mallard and gadwall, reed warbler, pied tit, great reed warbler... From the observation tower you have a wide view over the Teterow Lake and the bird species that can be found here.
