450 meters into the Strelasund
The north pier protects Stralsund's city harbor from waves that can build up into small breakers coming from the north and west. On the south side is a popular sailing and mooring harbor, which is particularly inviting for a stroll in summer: large and small yachts from all over the world rock gently on the quay and jingle their shrouds. Walkers like to let the wind blow around their noses and enjoy a great view of the backdrop of Stralsund's old town and across the Strelasund to Hiddensee. At dusk, the beacon of the Dornbusch lighthouse, Hiddensee's landmark, can also be clearly seen from here.
At the tip of the northern pier you will find a green navigation sign, which marks the starboard side of the shipping lane and welcomes sailors to the Hanseatic town.
