Fair weather offers, Guarded beaches

Bathing on the island of Poel was "invented" at the beach Am Schwarzen Busch. The first spa guests discovered the beach, which is only 1.3 kilometers away from Kirchdorf, in the twenties of the last century. During this time, the now lovingly restored buildings of the spa house were built directly on the beach.

In the fifties, a settlement with thatched cottages was built directly on the dune, which in recent years has been expanded with new, also thatched, houses. Many of these houses are now rented out to vacationers and offer ideal conditions for a seaside vacation due to their unique location. The beach, which is secured by groynes and, in the high season, by lifeguards, and is washed up with fine sand, has grown in width in recent years and has become the most popular beach on the island. The unobstructed view of the ferries passing by on the horizon in the direction of Scandinavia awakens wanderlust not only in sailors. Enjoy this unique atmosphere in any weather, well protected in one of the numerous beach chairs set up for you. Directly behind the beach is a new promenade with numerous gastronomic establishments, children's playground equipment and a miniature golf course. Only a few steps away, an attractive indoor playground awaits its guests, not only in rainy weather. The Ostseeklinik Insel Poel, a rehabilitation facility for mother and child, is idyllically located on the edge of a small oak forest, from which this part of town takes its name.
