National Park and Nature Conservation Centres, family-friendly

"Veränderung" (change) is the title of the exhibition in the visitor information centre of the National Park “Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft” and hardly anything could be more appropriate for the island of Hiddensee, which is constantly growing and changing due to the forces of nature.

The largest national park in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern extends over 118 square kilometres of land and 687 square kilometres of water. It includes islands, peninsulas, Baltic Sea and Bodden lagoons as well as sandbanks between Fischland and Hiddensee, including Ummanz. Daily land erosion and the formation of new land by the wind are the special features. Around 60,000 cranes rest here in spring and autumn. In the national park house, you can visit the exhibition "Veränderung". It informs about the forces of nature. Learn exciting facts about the origin of the island Hiddensee and the native animals and plants.

Through many participatory elements, the theme of nature is brought closer to you in a playful way. The exhibition is complemented by the adventure trail "De Lütt Küst" right next to the house. Throughout the year, the staff of the house offer natural history hikes across the island. From May to October, there are regular evening lectures in the national park house.
