Go on a journey of discovery in the shadow of the monastery and spend a day in Malchow's impressive monastery complex right on Malchow Lake.
The monastery, which was founded before 1274 in Neu Röbel on the Müritz, was moved to Alt Malchow on the southern shore of Lake Malchow on May 29, 1298.
While most monasteries were dissolved in the course of the Reformation in 1572, the Protestant faith arose in Malchow and it happened a transformation into a ladies' monastery. Together with the monasteries of Dobbertin and Ribnitz it formed the three state monasteries, which were put under state supervision in 1918.
