The modern, non-denominational monastery bows to the spiritual tradition and leads it further into the modern age. The monastery Gut Saunstorf - place of silence, near the Hanseatic City of Wismar, invites you to a time for yourself and to retreat from the noisy demanding world with its accelerated life.
A monastery is a place of retreat, silence, contemplation and seclusion from the world. Physical work, spiritual study and hospitality characterize monastic life.
We continue these traditions in the modern monastery - but freed from confessional old structures. It is an inner path that serves being there in the moment, is all-inclusive, and is focused on the divine. The monastery is a place of lived teaching, a lived service to God. At Gut Saunstorf, near Lake Schwerin and the beautiful Hanseatic City of Wismar, surrounded by the wonderful nature of Mecklenburg, the inner monastery finds an outer home in a place of silence.
The modern, non-denominational monastery was founded by the wisdom teacher OM C. Parkin and is open to all people who are looking for contemplation, silence and an encounter with themselves. The monastery combines Western and Eastern spiritual streams and is guided and enlivened by a monastic community. Completed in 2020, the chapel is now the spiritual heart of Saunstorf Monastery and a space available to guests 24 hours a day for meditation and inner reflection.
Here at Gut Saunstorf Monastery, guests can book year-round - individual days of retreat - silent weeks - group retreats (retreat days) - meditation weekends "The Way Within" - Ayurveda days and other retreat offerings. Dark rooms for a retreat in darkness are also available.
