The birthplace of Prussian Field Marshal Helmuth von Moltke presents an interesting collection on the military, scientific and literary achievements of the Parchimer.
The Prussian field marshal Helmuth von Moltke is a member of the Mecklenburg family and, in his function as chief of the general staff, played a significant role in the victories in the three wars of unification (German-Danish War of 1864, German War of 1866, German-French War of 1870/71).
The house where Helmuth von Moltke was born is located at Lange Straße 28 in Parchim. On May 26, 1994, the Moltke Memorial was opened in this house. It was established by the Moltke Foundation Berlin in cooperation with the Parchim Museum.
