The tour starts in the princely town of Putbus at the historic Circus. From there, it goes to the district of Lauterbach with its small harbor. The view of the Rügen Bodden and the island of Vilm is very beautiful from here. Passing the historic bathhouse Goor, the trip continues through the nature reserve of the same name along the Bodden towards Groß Stresow.
Picturesque views and small bathing spots invite you to take short breaks. From here the tour continues through the forest towards Lancken-Granitz and Seedorf. On this part of the route you will pass many prehistoric megalithic tombs. The route continues along a well-rehabilitated flagstone path to Seedorf with its beautiful sailing harbor. Here there is fresh smoked fish for hungry cyclists. Then a wooden bridge is passed, the wheels should be pushed here. The tour then leads to the right, a short time later again to the left, where a steep climb follows. At the top awaits a fabulous view over the Bodden landscape, lined with rolling hills with grazing sheep.
In the village of Moritzdorf, you can take the historic rowboat ferry to Baabe on the Mönchgut peninsula. From the Baabe bulwark, the route continues to the center of the Baltic resort. On the way there, it is worth visiting the coastal fishing museum, which retraces the history of coastal fishing in Baabe and on the Island of Rügen. Cyclists can then reach the beach directly via Strandstraße and enjoy an unobstructed view as far as the horizon. Parallel to the Baltic Sea and the kilometer-long sandy beach, the bike path leads to the Baltic resort of Goehren.
From there, a detour to Middelhagen with its historic school museum is recommended. On Wednesdays at 10 a.m., visitors here have the opportunity to take part in a traditional school lesson. Back in Göhren, the "Rasende Roland" takes cyclists back to Putbus. Bicycles may be carried in a specially designed carriage.
