Geographically, Teterow is the center of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The center is marked by a cast-iron relief plate created by the artist Günter Kaden from Wendischhagen on the market square.

In the center of the square, a cast-iron plate by the artist Günter Kaden marks the geographical center of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The neo-baroque style town hall was inaugurated in 1910. Right in front of it is the town's landmark - the pike fountain. Made according to the designs of the Plau sculptor Professor Wandschneider , it was inaugurated in 1914 and reminds of the Schildbürgerstreiche of the old forefathers. Because of these, the people of Teterow still traditionally celebrate the Pike Festival on the weekend before Pentecost - the festival of the Mecklenburg shield citizens.
The pike legend: Once the town fisherman had caught a capital pike. To keep it fresh until the approaching king's shot, the town fathers decided to put the pike back into the lake with a bell around its neck. The bell would ring continuously and the fish would be easily retrieved. This is how it happened. The fisherman went out with his boat, put the pike together with the bell into the water and cut a notch in his fishing boat for safety - exactly at the place where he let the fish into the water ...
