City park Marienhain with pavilion for small exhibitions in Demmin.
This was probably the site of the oldest church in the city, the Church of St. Mary. The chapel was built in 1797. Until 1847 the area was a cemetery, today it is a city park. Here you can find, among other things, the tomb of the Lobeck family, built by Gottfried Schadow in 1815. Peter Jürgen Lobeck conducted trade in the Hanseatic city and had his own sea ships built. The Muhrbeck stele is also more than 200 years old. Here is the grave of the two important physicians Ketil Johann Muhrbeck and Julius Gustav Lorenz Muhrbeck. They were county physicians, practiced as popular physicians and intensively fought cholera. The pavilion has been used as a "Small Gallery" for exhibitions since 1976.
