Looking back at Alt Sührkow in the time around 1990, sometimes the fairy tale of the ugly duckling that finally became a beautiful swan comes to mind. In other words, some dreams can come true ...Enjoy regional cuisine!
In 1297, Alt Sührkow was first mentioned in a document as a feudal estate of the knight Friedrich Moltke. This initially still manageable estate then developed over the centuries into a modern large-scale agricultural operation. Even before the First World War, there was a steam-powered dairy, an automobile and also a telephone connection (with the designation "Teterow 1").
At the time of the GDR, Alt Sührkow had an "agricultural production cooperative", which, however, had to go bankrupt in 1991. It was in this year that the Annuss family began its efforts to save the traditional farm. Today, the picturesque estate is once again a lively center of both the farm and the village of Alt Sührkow. Of course, the farm store as well as the restaurant play a role in this.
The farm store is located directly on the village street in Alt Sührkow. Beef and pork as well as sausages from own processing are offered. In addition to conventional goods, there is also organic meat. The assortment also includes game, shot by local hunters, as well as cheese and other dairy products from the dairy in Waren an der Müritz.
The restaurant is located in the historic manor house. Here the guests are offered a home-style cuisine with a regional touch. A large part of the ingredients come directly from the farm and are prepared in traditional cooking. Included in the price is the beautiful view to the manor park and further to the Hardtberg, one of the highest elevations in Mecklenburg Switzerland.
