While the manor house was still inhabited in GDR times, it has now been empty for several years. Most of the estate has been demolished, so that the manor house is now more of a ruin.

The former ducal residence palace with the surrounding palace park and the historic estate ensemble is one of the most beautiful places on Lake Schwerin. The art exhibition in the castle is particularly worth seeing. The early Gothic village church of Hohen Viecheln is a listed church building in Hohen Viecheln.
The monumental administration building is located to the northwest of the old town, directly on the Pfaffenteich lake. The building was erected when the Grand Ducal administration moved from Ludwigslust to Schwerin between 1842 and 1845.
The Grand Ducal Arsenal on the south-western bank of the Pfaffenteich in Schwerin, built between 1840 and 1844, is an impressive example of Tudor Gothic architecture. Today it serves as the seat of the state's Ministry of the Interior and combines historical architecture with a central location on the waterfront.
Schloss Neuhoff - this classic manor house stood empty for almost 20 years, but since the end of 2014 it has been inhabited and restored again. Already, the new owners and the newly founded cultural and equestrian association are dedicated to the topics of art & culture as well as equestrian sports.
