On our farm the kids are farmers, gardeners or chefs for a week – they take on the responsibility - for animals, fields and their own healthy and fresh meals.
The kid’s live in a lovely redeveloped old manor house. On the first floor, there are five bedrooms, each of which has its own bathroom. The house provides space for up to 34 persons.
Every child has his part in preparing the meal. For example:
- Harvesting vegetables
- In the milk room we will be preparing cream cheese
- Breaking bread for upcoming meals
We are always attempting to use as much home grown food. During harvest in autumn this obviously works better than in spring. A lot of the groceries that we have to buy date back to ecological cultivation from the LandWert-producer association; the rest is bought at a local whole food market. It’s very important for us to make sure the children drink a lot of healthy beverages that are low in calories, which we provide at all times.
In their spare time the children can enjoy the farm atmosphere and visit the animals. On the farm there is a climbing park, a real Indian-tepee, a basketball court and the opportunity to play table tennis and soccer. Also around the LandWert farm there are plenty of things to do in the afternoon: an excursion to the fishing village Starlborde, you can also take a walk at the Bodden beach.
