The Rasende Roland, as it is affectionately called, has been traveling across the Island of Rügen at a comfortable top speed of 30 km/h since 1895 and connects the well-known seaside resorts with each other.
Between 1895 and 1899, an extensive network of small railways with a gauge of 750 mm was also built on the Island of Rügen. The extended line Sellin West to Sellin East was opened on 03.07.1896. The construction of the station building also dates to this time.
