The old Satow church was built between 1219 and 1224 in the style of the transition from Romanesque to Gothic architecture and is thus the oldest testimony of ecclesiastical architecture in the region.
The old Satow church is one of the oldest buildings in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The ruin of the early Gothic church is not only an impressive landmark of Christian faith, but also a stone witness of almost 800 years of history. For centuries it was the spiritual and cultural center. Through the restoration measures decided by the municipality of Satow, the church ruins will be protected from further decay and designed as an open monument in order to preserve this cultural-historical gem for future generations.
