In the west of the Island of Rügen, away from the biggest hustle and bustle and traffic stress, lies the island of Öhe, off the coast of Schaprode.
It is about 75 hectares in size and has been privately owned for many generations, which has been farming here for a long time. The seclusion makes the Öhe a special part of the National Park of Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft and offers ideal conditions for natural and sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry. All farmland is located directly on the water and is subject to nature conservation. Here you can find a unique selection of grasses and herbs, which on top of that, due to their high salt content, are especially tasty for cows and calves that graze here during the summer months. On the one hand, grazing provides seabirds with safe breeding and staging areas and, on the other hand, makes an important contribution to coastal and nature conservation. The highest point of the island is the 3.3 meter high Fuchsberg.
