Information center "Forest and Moor" and nature trail
On the first floor of the information and training center "Forest and Moor" in the city forest Ribnitz-Damgarten there are exhibition rooms on about 100 m² with interesting facts about the development of the Ribnitz Great Moor from the dead ice hole to the raised bog as well as about the habitat forest.
A model of a bog, tools for the extraction of peat and animal specimens - also to touch - are on display. Native animals are presented in terrariums and aquariums - with daily show feeding.
A large collection of nests, some with their inhabitants and eggs, provides a deep insight into the "homes" of numerous birds.
Live recordings allow observations of songbirds building their nests or breeding and rearing young birds, and of bats in their summer and mating quarters.
Viewable footage of the beauty of the marsh is shown in a slide show.
On the upper floor there is a training room for 25 people, which is suitable for school natural history lessons, consultations, etc.
Opposite you will find our nature trail with a resting place, eco-pond and numerous information boards - concerning nature.
