Granitz hunting lodge is one of the most popular destinations on the island of Rügen
In the middle of the Granitz forest stands the hunting lodge, which Prince Wilhelm Malte I zu Putbus had built by J. G. Steinmeyer in 1837-51. The main attraction of the hunting lodge is the cast-iron spiral staircase in the central tower. With 154 steps it leads up to the 38 m high tower. The viewing platform offers a picturesque panoramic view of the Island of Rügen.
The hunting lodge houses an impressive trophy collection, representative salons and rooms for events. An exhibition informs about the varied building history, the exquisite visitors and princely hunting pleasure. During the summer months, concerts of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival take place in the Marble Hall.
In the cellar of the castle you will find the "Alte Brennerei". In the medieval ambience you can fortify yourself for the way back. The "Forest Beer Garden Granitz" at the foot of the hunting lodge also invites you to linger, while the little visitors can discover forest and game for themselves on the themed playground.
