The Wittenbürger windmill greets guests and visitors to the small town at the eastern entrance. It was built between 1890 and 1891 and is still a functioning technical monument today. There is a restaurant at the mill. Guided tours for groups are available upon request.
Even though the mill was built in Wittenburg in 1890/91, its history began much earlier. It had previously stood in Schwerin and was later moved. During the war, the Wittenburg mill temporarily ceased operation, but was repaired after the end of the war and operated until 1971.
Today, the Förderkreis Mühle Wittenburg e.V. takes care of the technical monument. The mill site also includes a hall house from 1847, an agrarian barn from 1790, an exhibition of historical agricultural tools and a herb garden with a stone oven. Guided tours for groups of 10 persons or more are possible by telephone arrangement.
