On the edge of one of the largest nature reserves in Mecklenburg, the Lewitz, and directly at the gates of the historic State capital Schwerin with its many sights, stands the Holländer-Galerie-Mühle, built in 1874. The mill, which is a listed building, was completely renovated in 1994 and a modern, future-oriented hotel was added in 1995. Past and future were harmoniously combined on the 20,000 m² park-like property.

Greenhouse Garden and Alexandrine Monument

In the style of English landscape gardens stand Grünhausgarten and the southern palace garden with hippodrome, maze and youth temple. This part of the palace garden was restored to its former glory for the Federal Garden Show 2009. Old artillery barracks

Old Palace

The Old Palace is located on the Old Garden, on the corner of Schlossstraße, with its eastern façade facing the palace. The Old Palace, also known as the Alexandrinenpalais or Erbprinzenpalais, has been an important part of Schwerin's residential ensemble since 1801 due to its courtly use.

Grand ducal linen and bed chamber

On behalf of the Grand Duke, architect Hermann Willebrand created the designs for a linen room. In 1878, after the demolition of the previous building, this was supplemented by the construction of a "bed chamber". Willebrand unified both components with a uniform design and a simple classical plaster façade.

Grand ducal stable for sick horses

The former Grand Ducal Stables were built around 1850 as a separate utility building from the Marstall opposite, which was completed in 1842. In addition to the care areas for the horses, the building also housed apartments for the vets and animal keepers. With its simple, late classicist façade, it adjoins the stable building.

Greenhouse with cavalier house

The Greenhouse and the Kavaliershaus opposite it in Schwerin Palace Gardens form an impressive architectural ensemble designed by Peter Joseph Lenné and Georg Adolph Demmler.
