The shortest connection between the Wittow peninsula and central Ruegen.
The Wittower Ferry is a ferry connection for pedestrians and vehicles (up to a respective permissible total weight of 30 t) from the heartland of the Island of Rügen, the Muttland, to the peninsula Wittow in the north. It also gave its name to the district Wittower Fähre of the municipality Wiek. It is located at the Rassower Strom on the pointed headland between the Wieker Bodden and the Breetzer Bodden on the northern shore. On the southern shore is the ferry landing stage between the districts of Vaschvitz and Fischersiedlung of the municipality of Trent. When in severe winters the water areas of the Bodden freeze over, the last water points remain open at this approximately 350 m wide narrow point due to the current from and to the Great Jasmund Bodden and then offer refuge to many water birds. The allocation of berths in the N and S harbors is centrally managed by the harbormaster Wittower Fähre Süd. Guests can moor W-lich next to the Wittower Ferry South ferry dock at N and W piers. The harbor office is located in the white building at the ferry pier. By arrangement with the harbor master, guests can also moor at the new pier, W-lich of the ferry pier of Wittower Ferry North.
