2023: Hans-Fallada-Library selected for democracy strengthening project!
As part of the "Land.schafft.Demokratie" project, the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) and the German Library Association (dbv) have selected ten pilot libraries in rural areas throughout Germany. The Hans-Fallada Library in the Feldberg lake district is one of them.
The aim of the project is to strengthen libraries in rural areas as partners for democracy, dialogue and diversity. In the coming months, the ten pilot libraries will work with the Federal Agency for Civic Education to develop customized offers for promoting democracy that can be used by other libraries in the future. The event concepts of these libraries will be documented in the coming months and published on the website of the German Library Association in the course of the year. We will announce the events that will take place in the Feldberg Lakes Region as part of the project via our website and in the Kiek Rin. We are pleased to have the opportunity to help shape the project for our residents and our region.
Review:
2022: Thanks to the funding program "WissensWandel" , readers of our library can now also use the Onleihe MV. Access is via the reader account.
Onleihe Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has been around since 2015, and with 42 public libraries in the Onleihe network, it is the largest joint digital offering of public libraries in the state. The state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is also a member of the network and supports the statewide Onleihe with considerable financial resources.
"WissensWandel", digital program for libraries and archives within "Neustart Kultur", the German Library Association (dbv) has been supporting libraries and archives in their digital development since November 2020. The program is part of the rescue and future program NEUSTART KULTUR of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM). It is intended to help mitigate the consequences of the Corona pandemic for libraries and archives." (Source: Bibliotheksverband.de)
We are very pleased that this funding will enable us to join the Onleihe association and thus expand our extensive digital media offering for our readers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the German Library Association and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) for the rescue and future program NEUSTART KULTUR with the funding project "WissensWandel".
2021: "Locally for All - Emergency Program for Contemporary Libraries in Rural Areas". - Our application has been approved. Among other things, we will use it to finance comfortable seating for the reading corners, an audiobook station, a tablet for on-site use, a stand (beach flag) for our presence on Strelitzer Straße, and a notebook for holding lectures and picture book cinema.
On site for everyone:
With the emergency aid program "Vor Ort für Alle" (On Site for All ), the German Library Association promotes contemporary library concepts in communities with up to 20,000 inhabitants nationwide. The primary focus is on modernizing and digitally equipping libraries. The aim is to strengthen libraries as "third places" in rural areas as well and thus contribute to equal living conditions.
The emergency aid program is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) as part of the "Culture in Rural Areas" program. The funds for this come from the federal program "Rural Development" (BULE) of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
