Since 2002, the village of Rothen around the manor house on Lake Rothen has been a central place for culture, trade and art in Mecklenburg.
The glass artist Daniela Melzig, the carpenters and woodworkers Joachim Behrens and Ulrike Steinhöfel, and the metal designer Takwe Kaenders open the doors to their workshops for visitors in the old cowshed (which is a protected building) and the café-restaurant "Zur Rothen Kelle" offers you some tasty treats – including the cider made by Guthaus Rothen. Photographer Christian Lehsten and goldsmith Gabriele Lehsten also offer holiday apartments in the manor house.
