The former Grand Ducal Stables were built around 1850 as a separate utility building from the Marstall opposite, which was completed in 1842. In addition to the care areas for the horses, the building also housed apartments for the vets and animal keepers. With its simple, late classicist façade, it adjoins the stable building.
The Grand Ducal Stables were built around 1850 as part of the Grand Ducal Stables complex in Schwerin. The simple, late classicist building was designed by Georg Adolph Demmler and initially served as a horse clinic to care for the court's horses. It also provided apartments for veterinarians and animal keepers. The façade design, with a rusticated plinth area and reduced classicist elements, blends harmoniously into the surroundings of the Marstall. In the course of a conversion in 1911, the first floor, which was originally used for the hospital horses, was also converted into living quarters. Today, the building is used privately.
