Built in only 100 days! Thousands of cadets learned to sail on the German Navy's sail training ship. The Gorch Fock I is the type ship of a class of five sail training ships, which also includes the German Navy's sail training ship of the same name built in 1958.
She is 74 meters long and 12 meters wide. The sailing speed is 12 knots, the engine speed 8 knots. After an eventful journey and history, which began with the launching in 1933 at Blohm & Voss in Hamburg, the Gorch Fock is now a museum ship in Stralsund harbor. All decks of the three-masted barque are accessible. Guided tours, stays, knot school and wedding ceremonies in the captain's saloon are part of the ship's program today.
