Already the Slavic first settlers used the island as a huge horse paddock. Even today Poel is a "horse island". It's no wonder that the Schulz family's stud farm is known far beyond the borders of the island of Poel.
You can reach the stud farm of the Schulz family in the district of Neuhof by driving over the Kieckelberg, the only elevation on the island of Poel with 27 meters. Since 1908 the stud farm is a family farm and meanwhile horses and ponies are bred in the 3rd generation. The family is a long-established driver family, with many historic carriages for weddings, birthdays and other celebrations. Advanced riders can take a ride every morning, first warm up to the beach and then gallop into the water.
