The Gallery in the Monastery of the Kunstverein Ribnitz-Damgarten is located in the building complex of the Clarissan Monastery in Ribnitz in the immediate vicinity of the German Amber Museum. This art house of the town of Ribnitz-Damgarten combines a modern contemporary exhibition program with the presentation of historical art treasures.
The gallery in the monastery houses both the art collection of the district of Vorpommern-Rügen and the collection of the town of Ribnitz-Damgarten.
The latter is also available for public loan within the framework of an Artothek. For very little money, anyone can borrow high-quality art for their private or official rooms and change it regularly.
Furthermore, a permanent exhibition shows graphics of the Bauhaus master Lyonel Feininger (1871 to 1956), which were created to motives from Ribnitz and Damgarten.
In addition to the exhibition activities, the Artothek and the gallery store, the regular museum and art educational events are another focus of the gallery work of the Kunstverein.
