At the historic Forsthof in Kaliß, visitors can not only discover a lot, but also experience a lot. Concerts and exhibitions take place here, an erratic boulder garden shows stone witnesses of the ice age and whoever wants can watch a herd of wild boars.
54 erratic blocks, which came to the Griese area from Scandinavia during one of the ice ages, can be seen in the rock garden of the historic Forsthof Kaliß. During a tour, the interested visitor as well as the amateur geologist or nature lover learns which way the stones have traveled, how they became part of our landscape and how man made use of them. Furthermore, a meadow orchard with predominantly old varieties, a groundwater-fed well, a historical stone oven, which is used for various occasions, and a wild boar enclosure with boar and sow belong to the forestry ensemble. The old forest barn is now used as a "house of the forest" for multicultural purposes. Forest educational events, lectures, exhibitions and concerts take place here, and a forest and forestry museum is located on the upper floor.
