In the middle of one of the largest closed forest areas in the south of West Mecklenburg, on the edge of the "Griesen Gegend", lies the Jasnitz forestry office with its historic forestry farm. This is a popular destination for vacationers and recreation seekers and offers space for exhibitions and seasonal markets several times a year.
The listed Forsthof with its old forester's lodge is today the administrative headquarters of the Jasnitz Forestry Office as well as a special attraction for nature lovers, hikers, excursionists and school classes. In 1793, the former Jasnitz farm with its hunting lodge on it at the time was converted into the Forsthof. The forestry office building that still exists today was built around 1857. A functioning artesian well, a restored half-timbered barn and other outbuildings are part of the lovingly restored ensemble.
The Forsthof is the starting point of two nature trails that lead through the surrounding forest. Numerous information boards along the paths provide interesting facts about the natural richness of our forests and inform about their use as a source of raw materials. In the "Small Gallery" of the Forsthof, well-known animal and landscape painters as well as other artists regularly exhibit their works.
