Only a few minutes away from the main building of the Folklore Museum lies the "Bechelsdorfer Schulzenhaus", the oldest hall house in the country.
The "Folklore Museum" in Schönberg has unique ethnographic collections of furniture and textiles. Since 1932, the museum has been housed in a former schoolhouse by the church. The museum offers special exhibitions and events on a variety of topics, as well as guided tours of the museum and guided tours of the town by appointment.
Opening hours:
Open all year round.
A special outdoor facility is the "Bechelsdorfer Schulzenhaus".
The buildings of the open-air "Bechelsdorfer Schulzenhaus", with the only pre-reformatory Kübbungsdielenscheune Mecklenburg still preserved, were built near Schönberg, about 1528 in Bechelsdorf.
The monument farm belongs to the type of Low German hall houses and shows the culture, living and working conditions of a rural family in the second half of the 19th century.
It was moved to Schönberg in the 1960s and since then has formed the core of the open-air site. Various events, such as the baking day in the museum (every first Saturday of the month) or dancing in the hallway, attract visitors from near and far.
The Schulzenhaus offers its premises for wedding ceremonies.
Opening hours:
May - October
Tue - Thu and Sat from 10 am - 5 pm.
