This boulder, which is about 8 m³ in size and weighs about 35 tons, could have been the court stone of the medieval or modern Bergen.
This boulder, which is about 8 m³ in size and weighs about 35 t, could have been the court stone of the medieval or modern Bergen. The location within the townscape makes this hypothesis probable. At that time, the court square was located between the market and the monastery. However, since the district court was moved from the island to the mainland in 1803, the stone fell into oblivion and was built over. It was rediscovered during construction work in 1996.
