The excursion trail winds through one of the most interesting coastal raised bogs in Germany.
The Ribnitzer Großes Moor is a renaturalized high moor area, which extends over an area of 274ha between the Baltic Sea and the Bodden. The primeval forest-like alder breaks and pine moor forests are a home for the blood red darter, the otter and the crane. It is especially colorful here in spring. During spawning season, the male moor frogs shine in brilliant blue to impress their chosen one. Numerous information boards along the trail also provide information about rare plants such as sphagnum moss, sundew, cotton grass, royal fern or cranberry.
