Neo-Baroque manor house built in 1791, rebuilt in 1904-08, with unusual five-sided central risalit decorated with a wrought-iron portal canopy and terminated with a cupola. The almost complete manor ensemble consists of interesting outbuildings, such as pigeon house and extensive former stables - today partly vacation apartments. The highly interesting 8-hectare estate park is filled with botanical rarities from all continents and is open to visitors.
In addition to the dendrological garden, which particularly fascinates garden lovers, the complex includes the castle with the gatehouse, the stables, an agricultural horse stable, the granary, the wheelwright's workshop, the farmhouse and the pigeon house, which today houses a café. The Blücherhof Hostel is also located here, where guests can experience relaxing vacations on the estate.
The Blücherhof manor and castle was built on about 1000 hectares of land at the beginning of the 19th century. Various noble owners built the ensemble of buildings, which is still preserved today, in different architectural styles, such as Art Nouveau, Neo-Baroque, Neo-Rococo and Wilhelminian style, depending on the taste of the time. Decisive for the estate was the period from 1858-1940, when Prof.Alexander König, naturalist, zoologist, ornithologist and amateur dendrologist from Bonn, who also built Villa Hammerschmidt in Bonn, expanded the estate into an estate and above all used the extensive and natural park grounds for his collection of trees and shrubs from all over the world.
It is thanks to him that visitors today find one of the most important botanical gardens in northern Germany. More than 150 species of trees and shrubs from various parts of the world, but also from the local flora, can be marveled at. In 1945 the estate was largely preserved and was considered the most modern in Mecklenburg. In the summer of 2004, the manor, which had previously been operated as a children's home, changed hands. The dendrological garden will nevertheless remain open to the public. Registrations for guided tours under: 039933 -71908 or 70807.
