Göhren Museum Farm

The Mönchgut Museum Farm is the oldest and largest open-air museum on Rügen. While the residential building was built around 1850, the core of the half-timbered barn dates back to around 1680, making it one of the oldest buildings on Rügen.

Monument Kap Arkona

The area monument Kap Arkona is one of the most popular excursion destinations on Rügen. In addition to the 45 metre high cliff, the cape is home to a whole range of sights: The castle wall of Jaromarsburg Castle is located directly at the top of the Cape. The glass dome of the restored sighting tower glistens next to it. The Schinkel tower, the large lighthouse and the bearing tower can be visited.

Village church Kemnitz

The village church in Kemnitz looks back on a long tradition. In the rectory, right next to the church is a small exhibition of the painter Friedrich August von Klinkowström.The theme cycle path "Route of North German Romanticism", which runs from Greifswald to Wolgast, leads to the places of this painter of the romantic period.

Ludwigsburg Palace

The Renaissance palace Ludwigsburg was built between 1577 and 1592 as a widow's seat for Hedwig Sophie von Pommern-Wolgast. After her death in 1631 the palace changed hands several times until it was sold to the Greifswald merchant Weissenborn in 1810.

Altenkirchen parish church

The parish church in Altenkirchen is one of the oldest sacral buildings on the Island of Rügen. During its construction in the 12th century, an image stone of Jaromarsburg was used, which was dedicated to the Slavic deity Svantevit and was once located at Cape Arkona.

Circus Putbus

In 1810 this place was developed by Prince Malte to a residence town in classicistic style with theater, pedagogy and white houses around the circus. The romanticists Caspar David Friedrich, Friedrich August von Klinkowström, Karl Gottlieb Lappe and Philipp Otto Runge, who all came from Vorpommern, are the focus of the themed bike route, which passes important stations in the lives and motifs of these protagonists along a total of 54 kilometers. These include original sites such as the castle complex in Ludwigsburg, the vicarage in Wusterhusen and the harbors in Vierow and Wolgast. At ten designated stations along the popular Baltic Sea Cycle Route, information boards provide exciting background knowledge and give tips for further natural and cultural highlights on and along the route.

Officially, the tour starts at the Eldena monastery ruins, Caspar David Friedrich's favorite motif. However, a detour to the center of the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald beforehand is highly recommended. The route continues past fields and with a view of the Dänische Wiek, via the small village of Kemnitz to Ludwigsburg Castle, Klinkowström's birthplace. Here it is worth taking a first break as well as a detour to the nearby natural beach and coastal forest before heading to the next designated stop, the village of Vierow. The route leads to the seaside resort of Lubmin on a roadside cycle path or a narrow country lane and hiking trail along the coast. After an extensive lunch and swimming break and a detour to the nearby village of Wusterhusen, the rustic fishing village of Freest welcomes the cyclists, from where the last major stage to Wolgast starts. Along the road and without major climbs, the cyclists pass the stations Wolgast Dreilindegrund and Wolgast Hafen before reaching the day's destination, the Museum Rungehaus in Wolgast, the birthplace of the artist Philipp Otto Runge.
